Matthew sits in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Matthew H. Carlson focuses his practice in commercial finance with concentrations in origination, acquisition and disposition of mortgage loans, SBA loans, construction term, asset based credit facilities, mezzanine financings and subordinate debt, syndicated transactions, post-closing modifications and loan sales and purchases. Mr. Carlson has represented a number of regional, national and international banks as well as investment banks and institutional investors on a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions secured by office buildings, hotels, retail and multi-family housing properties.
Mr. Carlson was previously an associate in the Corporate Trust group at Richards, Layton & Finger, P.A., where he advised and represented private equity funds and other institutional investors in commercial real estate and credit facility transactions, and issued substantive nonconsolidation and true sale opinions to rating agencies on behalf of bankruptcy-remote, special purpose entities.
Mr. Carlson previously worked on Wall Street and the Philadelphia Stock Exchange from 1997 to 2002 as a proprietary stock and option trader.
He is admitted to practice in all state courts throughout the States of Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Mr. Carlson graduated from Dartmouth College (1994) with an A.B. in Government, the University of Connecticut (1996) with an M.A. in Political Science, and Villanova University School of Law (2005) with a J.D.
